September 17, 2017 – Colona Fire Department hosted their 1st Annual Great American Emergency Services Vehicle Show at the Colona Fire Department in Colona, Illinois. Local departments and organizations attended the event to showcase their fire and emergency apparatus which featured 40 vehicles including the Pink Fire Truck for Cancer Awareness.
Alexis Fire Equipment was well represented at the event with not only an AFE Demo and Brush Truck #SK847, but also some local departments including Geneseo Fire Protection District and Hillsdale Fire Protection District who displayed their Alexis custom-built apparatus.
Firefighters, family and friends gathered to explore vehicles, talk trucks, enjoy music and food (including free root beer floats), water fights, and a special fly-in appearance from a MedForce Transport helicopter. Colona Fire Chief John Swan greeted and welcomed guests with his fire dog beagle at his side, Lucky. Swan hopes to continue the event in the future with the plan to move the show’s location in order to help it grow.
