Whether your response area includes tall buildings or narrow streets, Alexis has the answer! With a variety of ladder sizes and types, we are able to offer the right ladder for the job, allowing you to focus your attention on the tasks at hand. Rest assured that your NFPA compliant apparatus is built for safety and durability with ladders trussed utilizing 70,000 psi and 100,000 psi steel. Optional hot dipped galvanized ladders provide additional strength and corrosion resistance. Custom options are available to round out your Aerial including Smart Truck Logic based controls, wireless remote controls, breathing air, a retractable waterway, operator’s chair and joystick controller, and equipment mounted at the tip – the place where you need it the most. Contact Alexis today to learn more about these and the many other options available on your next Alexis Aerial.
When deciding between a Platform or Stick Aerial, consider first any restrictions your department might have and also focus on the truck’s primary usage. Platforms provide a versatile work position for both rescue and firefighting. They come in lengths from 70 to 105 feet for telescoping boom platforms, and 91 to 174 feet for articulating/telescoping boom platforms. Platform weight capacities range from 750 to over 1,250 pounds, with an average of about 1,000 pounds.
LIGHTING AND ACCESSORIES
Add on your bells and whistles with a wide selection of lighting choices to fully customize your Alexis Aerial. Siren, speaker, and warning light options are available from industry leading manufacturers to meet NFPA compliancy. Add in the many 120-volt electrical systems options available as necessary to round out your apparatus. The Alexis 12-volt and 120-volt electrical systems are designed to provide full on-scene support for your firefighting staff.
CUSTOM FABRICATION
Alexis offers ample compartment storage space to effectively store all of the loose equipment required for efficient emergency operations. All compartments are seam welded for added strength and to resist water intrusion. With the additional options of rear ladder storage, adjustable shelves, roll-out trays, pull-out tool boards, equipment storage racks and more, your Alexis Salesman can help design a truck that will meet the needs of your department.
Aerial Platforms are useful for rescue situations when there are a greater number of people to be evacuated at one time than can be handled safely on a ladder, or when the people have restricted mobility. Platforms also are useful for firefighting duties when more than one master stream is needed, or when heavy or bulky equipment must be transported to an upper portion of a structure. Articulating boom platforms are useful when the boom must reach up and over obstacles. When compared to aerial ladders, platforms provide a larger working area and generally have greater weight capacity. Many platforms also can be angled to either side of the boom, which allows them to fit flush against the face of the building for safer access.
Our Platform Aerials are anything but standard. And since our apparatus are individually built and customized specifically for each of our customers, sky is the limit as far as choices. The platforms can be positioned from 75 degrees to -12 degrees allowing fire fighters more flexibility in operations. All our aerials have high handrails and provide an unobstructed walkway from turntable to tip. And each platform is built with a spacious 19 sq. ft. of usable area and feature corner-style gates. Our aerials use a 3 1/2″ fly section waterway resulting in 2000 gpm flows on platforms. Platforms are equipped with automatic overload protection allowing elevation and retraction of the aerial only when in a compromising configuration.
Aerial Stick Ladders come in lengths from 50 to 125 feet and ladder tip ratings from 250 to 1,500 pounds, with an average of about 500 pounds. Aerial ladders are useful for rescue situations when there are a limited number of people to be evacuated at one time, and when the people are able to climb down a ladder. Ladders are also useful for firefighting situations when a single elevated master stream is needed or when a continuous means of access is required for firefighters to reach an upper portion of a structure. All ladders are type one tested by Underwriters Laboratory.
75′ Stick is popular for the truck’s short overall length and excellent maneuverability. It can be mounted single or tandem rear axle chassis and includes two Standard H-Style galvanized rear out and down outriggers (front outriggers optional), monitor nozzle flows up to 1250 gpm with 500 lb. tip load, can be operated from -5 to 75 degrees, and also has a bolt-on egress ladder tip. A unique quick release lever lock allows the operator to retract the waterway, monitor and nozzle out of harm’s way when needed.
109′ Stick 4-section rear mount is one of the longest in the industry. Available also as a 4-section 100′ rear mount and a 5-section mid mount version. The monitor nozzle flows up to 1250 gpm, has four Standard H-Style Galvanized out and down outriggers, monitor nozzle flows up to 1250 gpm with 500 lb. tip load, and can also be operated from -5 to 75 degrees. Our Aerial Ladders are trussed vertically and horizontally using 70,000 PSI and 100,000 PSI steel for greater strength. They are even tested to handle loads up to three times the rated live load at full extension.
CAD DRAWINGS /Â Two-dimensional blueprint of preliminary truck body assures exact dimensions and maps general design.
SOLID MODELING /Â Three-dimensional drawings simulate a virtual model shop and offer a greater definition of compartment utilization.
AS BUILT DIAGRAMS /Â Customer-specific exact wiring diagrams come standard with your Alexis truck and provide ease of electrical diagnostics.
LOADING DIAGRAMS /Â Weight calculations insure intended loads match correct chassis gross vehicle weight rating during pre-planning stage.
OMAX JETMACHINING CENTER /Â Alexis utilizes one of the fastest and most precise abrasive waterjet cutting methods in the industry with our Omax 50,000 PSI JetMachining Center. Waterjet machining is a computerized technology used to cut virtually any material into any complex two-dimensional shape which does not result in tool path heating, distortion, or residual stress in the cut material. Computerized motion control provides accurate and reproducible results efficiently throughout a wide range of materials and thicknesses while generating a smooth edge and finish.
GALVANIZED BODY SUBFRAME / A fully-welded steel subframe supports our 3/16″ thick heavy duty aluminum body. Once the subframe is manufactured, it is hot-dip galvanized to provide the strongest body support system available to withstand the rigors of everyday use. Our underbody outrigger system provides total compartment support from the bottom up to withstand the load carrying requirements of today’s apparatus. A rubber body cushion is standard to provide flexibility and ensure dissimilar metals will be separated to protect against damage caused by electrolysis.
Service and maintenance is streamlined with heat resistant, color, function, and number coded wiring as well as printed circuit boards and automatic reset circuit breakers. The connections are made through a Duetsch connector, allowing for the best possible protection against the elements. Standard and multiplex systems are available to meet each customer’s 12 volt electrical requirements.
Our apparatus bodies are painted on the Alexis premises using PPG high-gloss finish coatings. Two coats of paint and three coats of primer for ultimate durability and quality. The compartments can be finished in either a natural Aluminum or Zolatone coating. Our trucks are prepped, the paint color of your choice is mixed, and the paint is applied to produce the finished, painted product.
